We are pleased to announce that Vancoufur will be returning to a physical event for 2022.

To physically attend VF2022, you will be required to show proof of your Covid-19 Vaccination status. All attendees wanting to attend the physical event must be fully vaccinated by the date the event starts.

If you have not been fully vaccinated by the convention date, you will not be able to pick up your badge and physically attend the event. At present it is too dangerous for those who are unvaccinated (regardless of the reason) or only partly vaccinated to attend our event. This includes all domestic and international guests.

These are the requirements to be able to hold our event as outlined by the BC government. There will be no exceptions to the vaccination requirement.

We will also be taking whatever other steps we need to to based on provincial Health guidelines, including:

  • Social distancing in lines and in spaces
  • Masking in all indoor spaces, including under fursuit heads for people born 2017 or earlier.
  • hand sanitizing stations
  • wiping down panel room chairs and tables before and after each panel
  • using air sanitizing fans in the headless lounge
  • Any other recommended precautions as outlined by health guidelines
  • Dancing will be permitted with masks

Masks are currently mandated in all indoor spaces in British Columbia, Canada. We anticipate that this requirement will remain in place, so attendees will be expected to remain masked in all indoor spaces unless they are seated and actively eating or drinking.

FAQ

Q: Why do you require attendees to show proof of being vaccinated against Covid-19?

A: Currently all events such as ours are only available to the vaccinated as mandated by the BC Government. We are required to only allow those who are fully vaccinated to attend our event.

Q: What if I can’t get the vaccine for medical reasons? Isn’t that discrimination?

A: Unfortunately at this time it is too dangerous for unvaccinated people to attend our event. It is the law at present that we require all attendees to be vaccinated. Regardless of why you can’t get vaccinated, you still have to wait for a safer time. We invite you to participate in our digital offerings in the meanwhile.

Q: What if I show up and don’t have my proof with me?

A: If you do not have proof of vaccination, you will not be able to pick up your badge. Most of the vaccine passports (BC passport/ArriveCAN) will be available on your phone, unless you have to bring your physical card from another province. It is part of the ID requirement this year to pick up your badge.

Q: What if I’m under 18? At what age do attendees require vaccinations?

A: All attendees over the age of 5 should be vaccinated now that a vaccine is available for children. Parents are responsible for getting themselves and their children over 5 vaccinated prior to the event. If your children are unvaccinated for whatever reason, out of an abundance of caution, we urge you to consider not bringing them to our event. However, we will only be verifying for ages 12+.

Q: Do I need my booster dose to attend?

A: No, at present you only need to have your two primary vaccinations.
