Vancoufur 2015's Charity

VancouFur is please to welcome back VOKRA (Vancouver Orphan Kitten Rescue Association) as our charity for a second year in a row. Below we have a word from our charity and details on what they do and who whey are

Help us save kittens (and cats!)

Vancouver Orphan Kitten Rescue Association (VOKRA)is thrilled to be your charity of choice at the 2015 VancouFur

Each year, VOKRA saves over 1800 abandoned and homeless cats in the Lower Mainland. We have no paid staff and do this with 100‰ volunteers. What does that mean? Every penny raised goes directly to the cats in our care. We don`t have a shelter — just a centralized intake point. Once the cats have been medically checked and behaviorally assessed, we match them with one of our 350 foster homes. The cats are part of a family, warm and loved, until it`s time for them to go to their forever homes. Fostering costs the foster family nothing; VOKRA pays for all the food, litter, and medical care required.

We spend about $500,000 annually, primarily on veterinary services, food, medicine and rescue supplies. We raise funds through our adoption fees, donations, grants, and fundraising events such as VancouFur.

Thank you again for choosing VOKRA. We really appreciate the support of your community.
