Conbook Submissions Wanted!

Gritty, gun-toting gumshoes. Sly, sensuous femme fatales. Dangerous, deadly villains. Dark back alleys. High-class homes. Film Noir features many enjoyable characters, settings and themes – and we want to bring those themes to the VancouFur conbook for 2015. We are seeking art and writing on the theme of Film Noir: Gangsters and Gumshoes, preferably with a connection to Vancouver or its area, if possible. Submissions are open to anyone and everyone.

Art Submissions

We need these sent at 300 dpi for quality printing. Images will be printed in grayscale, but we will happily accept colour and convert as necessary. The book will be standard 8.5x11 inches in size, so consider that in your art design. Smaller images are accepted as well - lots of pictures make for a great conbook!

Fiction Submissions

These should be suitable for a general audience, and no more than 2000 words in length, though shorter is great too. We're looking for well-written fiction pieces, preferably with well developed plot and characters for the length of the piece. Submissions should be sent in .txt format if at all possible, allowing for ease of formatting when laid out.
Please note that all artists and authors whose works are used in the conbook will be given full credit for their works. Refer to the submission information on the VancouFur website for more information.

Deadline

Deadline for submissions of art and fiction is December 15, 2014 December 31, 2014.
Please submit all art and fiction to conbook@vancoufur.ca. Digital submission is vastly preferred, but if it's not possible please e-mail for alternate arrangements.
