Underage Attendees

We welcome all underage attendees and their parents in accordance with the following policy:

VancouFur recognizes that the legal age of majority in BC is 19.

Minors aged 16 to 18 do not need the consent of a parent or legal guardian to register for membership and attend VancouFur.

Minor attendees aged 13 to 17 must be registered for a membership and carry a badge designating them as minors at all times. They are not permitted access to event spaces or content marked adult or 18+.

Minors aged 13 to 15 need the consent of a parent or legal guardian to register for a membership and attend VancouFur. A PARENT OR LEGAL GUARDIAN MUST BE PRESENT TO REGISTER AND SIGN for minors aged 13 to 15, no exceptions!

Minors aged 13 to 15 can attend the convention freely, unsupervised, once they have obtained a valid membership badge. We recommend that minors who will be roaming unsupervised talk to your parents and plan your day! Make sure you have a cellphone or a contact number and know where and when you will be meeting back up with your parents.

Children aged 12 and under can attend for free but must be supervised by a parent or legal guardian holding a valid membership badge at all times.

Parents attending with minors aged 4 to 12 must pick up a free KIT (Kid In Tow) badge for their children at Registration when they register. Infants do not need a KIT badge.

Parents attending with infants and minors aged 4 to 12 cannot bring their children in to restricted event spaces marked adult or 18+.

Paypal can be used for online registration

Currently, due to increased per-transaction fees imposed by AMEX and Discover cards, we are unable to accept either one of these credit cards at this time.

Cheques and eCheques will still be accepted until the end of our pre-registration period. This means that after pre-registration ends you will no longer be able to pay by paypal or by cheque.

Code of Conduct and AUP

All people attending and/or registering for VancouFur must agree to our Acceptable Use Policy. It can be viewed here.

VancouFur is a private function being held in a public hotel and all guests are expected to uphold a certain level of respect and courtesy in order to maintain their access to the event space. Event space access is a privilege, not a right. We ask that you do only things that others would find acceptable in any public setting. Use your common sense!

At the event holders discretion, guests may be denied entry to the event space with no chance of refund of event contributions for any failure to abide by the following requirements, as well as any additional requirements determined at the event holders discretion:

REMINDER: The hotel staff (as well as ours) reserve the right to remove any signage that they deem innapropriate. So keep your door signs, etc. PG!

  • No illegal substances of any kind are permitted in the event space or hotel proximity.
  • Costumes and clothing must be acceptable for public viewing and should not be overly revealing or suggestive in nature, at the event holders discretion.
  • Be considerate! Inappropriate conduct towards hotel guests or staff will result in immediate expulsion and possible ban from future events.
  • Rude, obscene, discriminatory, or sexual behavior in the event space or public hotel areas will not be tolerated.
  • No outside alcohol is permitted in the event space.
  • Alcohol is only to be consumed by those guests 19 years of age or older. Purchase of alcohol for underage guests is not permitted and is grounds for immediate expulsion from the event with NO exceptions.
  • All hotel conduct requirements must be followed by all guests, including any in conflict with the requirements listed here. Any actions taken by the hotel in response to a breach of hotel conduct will be supported by event staff and reflected by the event.
  • Room parties are not permitted unless coordinated with the event holders and/or hotel staff.
  • USE YOUR COMMON SENSE!
