Covid-19 2023

We are pleased to confirm that Vancoufur will be having a physical event for 2023. We are, of course, concerned about attendee health and safety, particularly as Covid-19 is still circulating.

It is important when you are considering attending Vancoufur that you assume that Covid-19 positive individuals may be present. It has been documented clearly that the disease does spread in events like conventions, so when you are choosing to come, assume that there is significant risk you will be exposed. Unvaccinated individuals and individuals that are immunocompromised are most at risk.

For 2023, for the safety of our attendees, we will be requiring masks in convention spaces and adjoining hallways. Conspaces are defined as space the convention has rented out (such as panel rooms, main theatre, dealer’s den, etc) and the hallways leading to events.

Medical and non medical masks are both acceptable. Masks must cover the nose and mouth.

Children 11 and under, masks are optional, children 12+ should be masked. For medical exemptions, please email registration@vancoufur.org with medical exemption information.

Public spaces are subject to the hotel policy, and hotel rooms are the discretion of the person who reserved the room. While masks may not be required in these spaces, they are still highly recommended to prevent the spread of Covid and other con crud.

Fursuit heads and pup hoods are required to have a mask under them or have the head/hood mouth and nose space opening 100% covered if using an external mask. A balaclava that covering your nose and mouth under a fursuit head is acceptable as a mask.

Vaccinations are highly recommended and strongly encouraged, but at this time are not required in the province of BC for events. We recommend vaccination and boosters because of the documented spread of Covid from larger events such as Vancoufur.

If you are feeling at all ill or not well PLEASE DO NOT COME. If you need to contact registration about rolling your reg forward due to illness, please contact registration@vancoufur.org.

Sanitation stations and hand sanitizer will be available around the hotel to make sure your paws are clean.

We continue to monitor the governmental guidelines and the policy could change without notice if the government imposes any vaccine requirements based on Covid Threat levels at the time of the event.

We invite those uncomfortable with the risk of attending a physical event at this time to participate in the digital side of the convention via VRchat, Minecraft, Twitch and on our Discord server.

This information will be updated as necessary, the Covid-19 landscape is constantly changing.

If you have questions regarding our 2023 covid policy, email us at info@vancoufur.org for more information.
